Time For Bed… and How To Style It.
We always hear “Make your bed every morning to start the day off right”, and I have made this a personal goal of mine since I was in high school. It is true, when you make your bed in the morning it not only makes your room feel organized, but it also helps you feel more productive throughout your day! Beds are the anchor of the bedroom, I mean it is in the name! They are also the place where we go to rest so, being intentional about your bed is essential to having a space that promotes a healthier well-being. I want to dive into different ways you can style your bed for an affordable price to help you achieve this designer look!
Let’s start from the bottom at the sheets. Sheets can make or break your sleep at night and fortunately, you do not have to sacrifice your comfort for something that looks designer. I recommend getting a set of microfiber, deep-pocketed sheets that will allow you to have quality sleep while also getting that crisp and clean look when you make your bed. I prefer white or taupe sheets so that they create a neutral foundation for the rest of your bedding.
On top of the sheets, you can always add a quilt for added warmth in the winter or comfort at any time of the year depending on your preferences. Quilts do add a sense of depth to your bedding, which creates a look that says you have put a lot of intentionality into your bedding. I highly recommend including a quilt in your line up!
Next is the comforter/duvet, my favorite piece! The comforter that you choose will be a statement for your space. It will provide color, texture and an aesthetic which you can base other decor in your space. I prefer a down insert that goes into a duvet because I find them fluffier and fuller than common comforters. This is the part of your bedding that is mainly for looks and still for comfort while you sleep so it is important to find one that anchors your aesthetic and design throughout the room. I recommend a solid color for any comforter/duvet as designs can become quite distracting when they are in such a small area.
Finally, the pillows! This is the most fun part because you can use different textures, sizes, and designs for your pillows. It is important to have two to three large sleeping pillows that go with your sheets/comforter/duvet that go behind the throws. When it comes to throws, I recommend finding two to three large square pillows that have a pop of color, or design that you love to add character to your bedding! Then you can even add two more smaller throws with a different shape such as a rectangle or circle to go at the front of the line-up! I love getting fun and creative with throw pillows on beds! My favorite hack for throws is to find ones that have zippers so you can wash them easily, and insert a smaller pillow into it to appear more full.
You can add some accessories to your bedding to top it off, such as trays that hold candles and a book or even throw blankets folded on the edge of the bed. I have both of these options, which make it feel very intentional and put together! You can find amazing trays at a vintage or antique store!
